Happy Birthday Will!

Will turned ten last week and to celebrate we headed down to Liverpool to see his favorite football club in action- Everton. In addition to the game, we also signed up for a stadium tour on Sunday to top off the experience.

The game was a huge success, with Everton winning 4-0 over Fulham. Everton was up 3-0 after the first twenty minutes, with a good deal of singing and chanting throughout to keep the atmosphere lively. An extra bonus was getting to see Clint Dempsey play, another American playing in the English Premier League.

The next day we walked back to the stadium for a tour and lunch. We were excited to get a behind-the-scenes peek at Goodison Park.

Visiting team's locker room (only two hooks per player- that's it)
Our tour guide told us some funny things about the visiting locker room. Everton provides very little for the opposing team. There are four shower heads and a bathtub full of ice. Everything else (toilet paper, soap, towels, etc) need to be brought by the visitors. Pretty rough treatment for one of the world's top leagues.

It was a whirlwind of a weekend, but we had a great time heading down to Liverpool to see his team. Thanks to everyone who sent along birthday greetings, it meant a lot. Happy Birthday Will!
